Plasma biomarkers at baseline
The Biomarker Core measured four blood-based markers of Alzheimer’s and related disease in 612 participants at their baseline visit. Plasma p-tau217 is the strongest single blood marker of amyloid pathology; GFAP reflects astrocyte activation; NfL reflects axonal injury across many neurodegenerative diseases.
What is in it
| Column | Unit | Assay |
|---|---|---|
ptau217_pg_ml | pg/mL | Lumipulse G p-tau217 |
gfap_pg_ml | pg/mL | Simoa GFAP Discovery |
nfl_pg_ml | pg/mL | Simoa NF-light |
ab42_40_ratio | ratio | Lumipulse Aβ42 and Aβ40 |
amyloid_status | positive / negative | PET or CSF, within 12 months |
How to use it
library(sphere)
bm <- sphere_load("stanford-adrc/plasma-biomarkers", dataset = "plasma-biomarkers")
aggregate(ptau217_pg_ml ~ diagnosis, data = bm, FUN = median)Values below the assay’s lower limit of quantification are set to that limit. See
docs/assay_protocol.pdffor the limits and the plate controls.
